What is Ocean Bound Plastic?
Ocean Bound Plastic (OBP) is plastic waste considered at risk of ending up in the ocean. OBP can include both recyclable plastic and plastic that would not normally be recycled. The term covers plastic waste that has been abandoned or mismanaged in the environment — in both small and large quantities.
It is typically found in areas with inadequate or no waste management, often within approximately 50 km of coastlines or waterways.
